Dr. Dov Jay Berkowitz | What Are Immune Boosters?

Immune boosters are those that strengthen the immune system to help it fight disease-causing elements like bacteria. By incorporating them in your daily routine, you’ll have less chances of getting sick. These boosters primarily cover the foods that you incorporate in your daily diet, as well as your daily habits. By making some adjustments in your lifestyle and adding up on those things that will protect your immune system, you’ll be able to enjoy a stress- and illness-free life.

Starting the adjustments in your daily routine need not be abrupt. Simply incorporate one immune-boosting element at a time until you finally get used to it. The simplest way to begin with your lifestyle adjustment is to do some addition and subtraction in your daily diet and habit.

Step One: Avoid Toxic Foods and Negative Vibes – Dov J Berkowitz

Here are the things you must avoid to protect your immune system:

o On your diet: Avoid foods rich in cholesterol, refined sugar, and coffee. Cholesterol-packed foods pose direct harm to the immune system while coffee causes dehydration and rob your body of important nutrients. On the other hand, sugar increases insulin which limits the hormones necessary to the body. Besides, it can also rob your body of nutrients as it uses them for their metabolism. Aside from diabetes, high sugar intake is also harmful for your weight and can cause various other diseases and mood swings.

o On your emotional health: Avoid stress and anxiety. Negative emotions often take toll on the body and may be manifested in the form of illness. Therefore, take things easy and avoid worrying.

After you get rid of all the toxic foods and the negative vibes in your life, you can now proceed to the next step.

Step Two: Increase Intake on Healthy Foods and Positive Habits

Here are the things you must add up on to boost your immune system:

o On your diet. More water and more Vitamin C are a must. Add up on your intake of raw foods as well. Fruits, vegetables, and foods rich in fiber are helpful. If you can eat them raw, that would even be better. In fact, raw garlic and ginger are beneficial because they help the body absorb nutrients better. If you think you’re not getting enough vitamins and mineral, you can also go for food supplements (although raw and natural foods are still the best).

o On your habit. Practice proper hygiene to avoid disease-causing bacteria. Get more sleep and exercise. They will not only boost your immune system but also brighten up your day. Don’t work over the limit. Take care of yourself and give yourself a break every now and then. Plus, do something you truly love.

Dr. Dov Jay Berkowitz | Yoga is Self Improvement

Dr. Dov Jay Berkowitz | After five thousand years of written documentation, Yoga may well be the oldest self-improvement system that ever existed. We don’t know what Yoga knowledge may have been lost before man started to record it. In the time period beyond 5,000 years a fair amount of knowledge would have been passed on by word of mouth, and as a result, some of it would be missing. Dr. Dov Jay Berkowitz There are many different types of Yoga, but all of them contribute to mankind’s self-improvement. So, mankind has been a work in progress for thousands of years and has organized systems to constantly improve. Let’s look at some Yogic principles that are often recognized as “modern” self-improvements. Activate your mind and body together through daily Yoga practice. The mind is more powerful than the sum of its thoughts and it must be controlled. The mind that is allowed to wander usually produces random and unproductive thought. In varying degrees, most styles of Yoga tie the physic...

Dr. Dov Jay Berkowitz | Diet and Dental Health

Dr. Dov Jay Berkowitz | We all know eating lots of sugary treats, candy and soda causes tooth decay. That's a no-brainer. But this deeper dive into the specifics of diet and how it impacts dental health and cavities will be as fascinating to you as it was to me. Most of us believe that once you have tooth decay, that cavity cannot be reversed and the only solution is to have part of your tooth drilled out and filled with a synthetic material. However, it's been proven that there are ways to reverse cavities naturally. Studies have shown that cavities and tooth decay could potentially be reversed with diet. Sixty-two children with cavities were divided into three different diet groups. Group 1 ate a standard diet plus oatmeal, which is rich in phytic acid. Group 2 consumed a normal diet and supplemented with vitamin D3. Group 3 ate a grain-free diet and supplemented with vitamin D3. The results revealed that Group 1 who ate the diet high in grains and phytic acid had a...

Dr. Dov J Berkowitz | Tips on How to Keep Your Brain Healthy Well Into Your 90s

Dr. Dov J Berkowitz | On PBS’ “The Art of Aging”, a number of Japanese centenarians – people who are 100 years or older – are interviewed. But unlike most centenarians their old age, these people are independent. One of the interviewees, named Saburo Shoochi, live alone and still actively participates and contribtutes to the local child care. Ryohei Omiya broke the record for 100m dash in his age group. Gin Sato still actively teaches how to play japanese musical instrument. And lastly, Keizo Miura, still actively ski down the European Alps! Dr. Dov J Berkowitz What’s their secret? That was the objective of the interviews and the studies. Brain scans showed their brains are approximately 30 years younger than they should be… but could genetics be the reason for this “miracle”? The answer is yes, genetic played a role, though it’s smaller than you might think. Dr. Dov J Berkowitz | One of the elderly interviewed, at one point in his life, could not walk, was depressed and could barely w...
